TOPIC IV - EXPLORING TRADISI
"Exploring Tradisi" is a collection of work that examines contemporary objects and their connection to traditional Indonesian behaviour and cultural practices.
As someone born and raised in Indonesia, there are habits and behaviours that I am accustomed to that are considered inappropriate in the UK. This makes me wonder, what would the world look like if objects were catered to our needs and behaviours rather than the other way around?
By challenging the notion of normality and considering the impact of colonisation on the globalised world we live in, we can examine everyday objects through a different lens and uncover design elements that are unnecessary, incorrect, or even harmful that have been embedded in the objects we use everyday.
